About us

We both work and teach in Muslim communities across the UK and have often shared stories at conferences over the years. Recently we’ve seen an increase in the number of young people coming to the faith, who have asked many questions about Islam. While trying to answer these in person as often as possible, we realised it’s hard to get informed answers online. We decided to collate our knowledge and experience and discuss everything from the basics, such as how to pray, to more complex theological issues, like the concept of ijtihad, and put everything online in one easy-to-access place.

Dr Musharraf Hussain is an Islamic scholar who has translated and written over 20 books and 300 articles on faith and the Qur’an, including the ‘Let’s learn Islam series’. His recent plain-English translation of the Qur’an is approved by the University of Al Azar, and considered a leading example in the field of translating the Qur’an. Dr Hussain is also the Director of the Karimia Institute, based in Nottingham, which offers a range of services for the British Muslim community.

Dilwar Hussain is a leading academic on the way Islam works in today’s society, and has written many articles covering a wide range of subjects, from how to take part in politics to discussions with people from other faiths. Mr Hussain is a founding Chair of New Horizons, and was previously a Commissioner for Racial Equality, a Trustee for the Islamic Society of Britain and an Associate at the Centre for Islamic Studies.
